Open Call

Are you based in the Nordic region and want to join us at this year’s ArktiskMat Symposium on 12 – 14th September?

For the third year in a row, we are inviting applicants to join us as a speaker at this year's symposium! The central theme is ‘Nurture’ and we are interested in hearing from individuals of all backgrounds: students, chefs, farmers, food producers, and researchers. The selection of this theme speaks to our deep respect for the farmers, fishermen, and foragers whose hard work, dedication, and responsible practices link traditions, techniques, and values across generations. The practices we learn from the people and landscapes around us.

We ask our speakers to think about: How have you encouraged, cultivated, or cared for living beings (even plants and animals) through your work? In what ways have you been nurtured in your personal or professional life? Has a single meal, food memory, or connection positively changed your outlook on life?  We are excited to explore your unique take on how nurture integrates into your work – past, present, or future.

We will cover travel expenses to and from Mosjøen and include access for all talks & meals during the weekend - all we’re looking for is a thoughtful and engaging presentation relevant to our theme. If you’re interested, please tell us about yourself and what you would like to contribute to the festival this year.

Deadlines for submissions is 31 May and the winner will be announced in early June!
